Review
It had been many years since the original Disney sci-fi cult classic Tron wowed audiences with its revolutionary state-of-the-art computer-generated imagery, which was unprecedented. Now, history is about to repeat itself with the long-awaited sequel. Not only does TRON: LEGACY live up to the first Tron movie, but it is much better than the classic and is a nostalgic sequel. I'm glad two old actors like Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner from the predecessor have returned to the sequel, especially Bridges, who not only reprises the role of Flynn but also Clu, who is now the villain. It's also good to see the return of its creator and original director, Steven Lisberger, who is now the producer of this latest movie.

I praise everything in the film, including the direction of Joe Kosinski, who did an excellent job of bringing Tron back to the screen, and the decision to release the film in two versions, both 2D and 3D. I enjoyed the latter better. There were two new vehicles added, which were the Light-runner and Light-jets. The acting of Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Martin Sheen was terrific.

The electronic musical score by Daft Punk is remarkable, and best of all is the stunning CGI visuals, which are the main production points of the film. It includes the sleek update of the Light Cycles and Recognizers. It also made Bridges look younger for the performance of the main villain, Clu.

This review marks the tradition of being my first review blogged under my site, Film Guru Lad. After all my years of watching the original movie so many times. Now, TRON: LEGACY is one of my favourites. It targets a new generation who have yet to experience the excitement of Tron. I recommend it to all audiences.

Star rating: (5/5) Best Movie Ever

  1. Another review, which I completely agree. It easily ranks in my Top 50 favorite movies. One of Disney's few great live action movies.

  2. This film has atmosphere and the music does a lot to increase the mood - even if I think the plot could have been better I would still have watched it for the atmosphere ceated and the most excellent end of line score with the beautiful sexy futuristic Serinda Swan.
Blade Runner is still near the top though for atmosphere with an exciting plot.
Would like to see Tron 3 :) - if they ever make it!

The original Tron had me hooked so could never give this film a thumbs down. Good review!

    1. I've thought of the same thing for TRON 3 and yes the plot isn't great. The film does have its moments and even with the atmosphere, visuals and music. I still like it a lot!
